The Red Hot Chili Peppers stopped off at the Stade de France in Paris on Saturday June 30, as part of their “I’m with You” world tour, and let’s not mince our words, they were on fire!
The Californians lit up the stadium thanks to their legendary energy and their stunning hit songs, sung back to them by a crowd of hysterical fans. Although this tour is primarily to mark the release of their latest album, they only played 5 tracks off of this, and instead treated us to a truly “best-of” performance of their most well-known songs, which kept everybody happy, as you can tell from the set list below:
01. Monarchy of Roses (I’m with You, 2011)
02. Around the World (Californication, 1999)
03. Dani California (Stadium Arcadium, 2006)

From the very first notes of Dani California, Snow (Hey Oh), Californication, Under the Bridge, and even By the Way, the whole stadium began to shout with joy with an unreserved and infectious enthusiasm. The 70,000 people there that night were undoubtedly hardcore fans of the group!
Despite not being overly chatty with the crowd, apart from the odd “Thank you Paris, you are amazing”, the Chili Peppers did nevertheless play the part of punk/rock stars by jumping around the stage like little jack-in-the-boxes, especially when they showed us just what they could do with their instruments during a few intense jams. But this was not a spot of improvisation; each note was planned out as if it was part of a score. Although not very rebellious, the Chili Peppers made sure that the crowd kept going crazy from start to finish. A wild performance, which I had the pleasure of sharing with Salama de Pleaz and Samia laChipiedeParis, and in addition to their thoughts on the show, you can also take a look at some photos and videos from the concert to get a sense of the atmosphere… As for me, I’ll leave you with my playlist of the best RHCP songs that you can go through at will; don’t miss out the amazing live intro to Californication… So, is everyone happy?
