Our colleagues at Orange Spain are celebrating this week the 15th anniversary of El Rincón del Vago, a subtle cross between Wikipedia and the “for Dummies” books!
Launched on February 21st 1998, El Rincón del Vago is one of the very first Spanish-language websites of its kind. The video below, produced for the occasion, takes a look at the state of the Internet back in the days and you can see that a lot of things have changed in 15 years!
El Rincón del Vago has a catalog of over 100,000 online documents and receives more than 1.5 million hits per day from web users aged between 16 and 30. Users come from many different countries, but are mainly concentrated in Mexico, Spain, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Chile and the Dominican Republic.
a blog to help with studying
In addition to its document catalogue, El Rincón del Vago has recently started a blog, offering advice about studying techniques for students and on how to work productively and staying organized, as well as a collection of small paperbacks in partnership with publisher Espasa.
Well-structured, clear, fun, educational and with a hint of humour to spice things up, the website is a must for Spanish lovers and enthusiasts around the world. If you yourself are a Spanish aficionado, visit www.rincondelvago.com and don’t forget to wish the team a ‘feliz cumpleaños’!
