A real Aladdin’s cave of mobile technology, the Orange Technocentre in Châtillon, in France, has been producing apps since 2006, all as inventive as they are original, in order to make our day-to-day lives easier and more enjoyable. With 430 people working flat out at four sites (Paris, London, Amman and Abidjan), they have produced close to 80 apps across 35 countries which have already been downloaded 25 million times!
From Livephone, which allows you to connect your mobile phone to your landline, to Your Orange, which lets customers manage their subscriptions or get help, these apps have been created by Orange with the help of their customers, who voluntarily take part in questionnaires, workshops or surveys in order to design a product that responds to customers’ needs.
And for UEFA Euro 2012, Europe’s biggest international football tournament, the Technocentre teams are thinking big to enable users to experience and share unique moments throughout the month of June.
What’s important to note is that this app is available in 11 languages on 8 different platforms, whether it’s the classic operating systems (iOS, Android, Windows phone, Blackberry…) or less common ones (Symbian, Java and Bada, Samsung’s simplified OS), making it all the more accessible for soccer fans across Europe.
With this app, soccer fans will have all they need to know about the European Championships at their fingertips: match results, group standings, individual player statistics, etc. Users will be able to follow live commentaries of matches on their mobile and will receive push alerts notifying them of goals and key incidents during matches.
But the UEFA Euro 2012 app is also designed for fun as it offers a system whereby you can personalize yourself as a supporter! You’ll be able to take a photo of yourself and kit yourself out in the colors of your national team (face paint, wig, moustache, etc…) before sharing your new photo on social networks. Furthermore, if you’re competitive, you can use the app to connect to the Orange Supporters’ Cup, an online competition where you can play to win tickets for the final of the European Championships!
