For the upcoming Blogger Bus Tour in Silicon Valley, Orange has invited several international bloggers to come and write on the live Orange blog about all the things they will have the opportunity to see in California.
In such an endeavour, transparency is always crucial, in order to make sure that the bloggers are 100% aware of what their invitation implies and that they agree to it. There is a huge gap between being asked to produce content about a certain event, and almost endorsing the host company’s product or brand; a gap in which companies can easily fall into if they fail to be completely transparent with their guests. By transparency we simply mean disclosing the rules of the game, committing them to paper in a blogger pack sent out to all the participants before the trip, following a mutual agreement.
The key for such an operation to function smoothly is respect. With the Blogger Bus Tour almost underway now (less than ten days!), we at Orange have been crystal clear with our team of bloggers regarding the ultimate goal of our journey to Silicon Valley: to broadcast to our customers and readers the ideas and views about a changing world, live from the capital of technological innovation. But that’s not all: to have fun, to exchange, to learn from one another, to build from eachother’s content and above all, build a team of like-minded people who want to roam the world because they share the same passion.
The idea here is to bring together a group of keen observers to witness first-hand how companies in the Valley are contributing to the rise of innovation (and to what extent), and to hear and compare everyone’s take on what they see. We encourage our bloggers to work as a group, collaborate and share with our readers their experience on-site, which we believe will be breathtaking.
On this adventure, although we will be working as a team and sharing our content, each blogger will be independent, in the sense that they were not given any specific guidelines in terms of the subjects they will write about; there won’t be any PR chaperon holding their hands throughout the event and checking up on them. Their take on what they see is our only interest, in order to share with the world their findings, and the only thing we ask from our guests is that they be curious and engaged. This is at the heart of how we at Orange design our blogger programs and the Silicon Valley Blogger Bus tour 2012 is no exception.
From September 17th, join us on the live Orange blog and follow our adventures in Silicon Valley!
