Sixteen years after it sprang to life in 1996, the Mondial du Vent remains impossible to miss for all those of you who consider yourselves true water sports aficionados. From kitesurfing to windsurfing and also stand up paddle, there’s a little bit of something for everyone and no doubt this year’s happening will once again be a huge hit amongst the fans and riders.
For the fifth year running, Leucate will see the best freestyle specialists battle it out on the renowned Leucate- La Franqui spot, as the second stage of the PKRA (Professional Kite Riders Association) European tour hits the coast of southern France.
From April 7th, come and witness the Orange Speed Crossing Pro, a speed challenge where some of the best kitesurfers and windsurfers will race each other in an exciting competition which never fails to impress year after year. Frenchman Alex Caizergues will be back in action to defend his title while last year’s runner-up, American Rob Douglas, the fastest man in the world on water (55.65 knots !), should also have his say for the final win.
While the pros go head-to-head, the rest of us will be soaking in the sun on the beach, watching from afar as the competition unfolds… However, if you feel like testing yourself in the water, come and join the Orange Speed Crossing Pro-Am from April 13th to 15th ! Over a hundred pros and amateurs will be involved in this long distance race where anything can happen…
