It’s common knowledge that James Bond has always been the Queen of England’s most loyal servant. And last Friday, the world famous secret agent acted as Her Majesty’s bodyguard, escorting her all the way to the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
Well, almost all the way, as both British icons’ arrival was in fact ensured by certified stuntmen. Understandable, when taking into consideration that Daniel Craig and the Queen’s doubles landed inside the imposing stadium in a parachute !
Some time ahead of the big night, the Chester-born actor was invited by Oscar-winning director and opening ceremony maestro Danny Boyle to put on his James Bond attire once more for a short featurette, where the MI6 spy can be seen collecting the Queen from Buckingham Palace and stepping on board a helicopter to take her to the Olympic Stadium.
Broadcasted on giant screens on-site, the (fake) Queen and Bond’s trip to the stadium and their unlikely parachute jump prompted a warm reaction from the crowd and in the end, Her Majesty was able to sit safely in her seat and watch the show. She’ll have to wait until November to get a glimpse of her favourite spy, as the brand new James Bond “Skyfall” is coming out late autumn…
