The Tour de France has come to a premature end for Fabian Cancellara. The winner of the prologue, and the holder of the Yellow Jersey for seven days, the Swiss rider has decided to return home to be present at the birth of his second child. “The decision to go home is harder than you might imagine”, explained “Spartacus” in a press release issued by his team, RadioShack-Nissan. “I’m not just a cyclist, but also a husband and a father, and I have another child on the way. That “trophy” is more important than any stage win or Olympic medal.” Cancellara will return to competition in London, where he will defend his Olympic time-trial title.
